ROUND 2 - 10-12 JULY 2026
PODIUM AT THE STREETS OF TOWNSVILLE FOR SZEWCZUK
Reid Park Street Circuit, Townsville QLD - supporting the NTI Townsville 500
Round 2 of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup took the field to Reid Park for the first time this season — a tight, technical street circuit a world away from the high-speed layout at Sydney Motorsport Park, and Jack Szewczuk's first street race of his car racing career.
Race 1 (Saturday):
Brock Stinson took the win after a fierce early fight for the lead with Pip Casabene, who briefly led before Stinson wrestled it back through Turns 5 and 6. Ben Stewart came home third, with Cooper Barnes and Kade Davey rounding out the top five. It was a tough opener on the unfamiliar street layout, with the front-runners breaking clear early.
Race 2 (Saturday):
Cooper Barnes turned the tables to take his first GR Cup win of the season, with Casabene again second and Stinson forced back to third after another side-by-side battle through the middle sector. Stewart and Gibbons completed the top five. Close racing continued throughout the field, with Jack working through traffic on a circuit that rewarded precision over raw pace.
Race 3 (Sunday):
The turnaround weekend delivered. With Barnes and Casabene controlling the front of the field, Jack found himself in a determined three-way battle for position with Ben Stewart and Lachlan Gibbons through the middle stages of the race. He came out on top of the fight to cross the line in third place — his first podium of the 2026 GR Cup season — ahead of Gibbons, as Barnes took the race win from Casabene.
The Sunday result was enough to see Jack finish the round in fifth outright, and hold onto fourth place in the championship standings heading into the back half of the season — a solid platform to build from as the series heads to Queensland Raceway in August.
